Kimberly F. Jones-de Oliveira

Areas of Expertise 
Jones-de Oliveira is an historian of the African presence in Latin America. She concentrates her studies on Brazil and its race relations and the Black consciousness movement (particularly, the participation by women). Jones-de Oliveira's other research interests include African American and Native American relations in the New World, race and gender in socialist Cuba, the Brazilian Black Women's Movement, and 19th century Brazilian slavery. As a Ford Foundation Fellow at the UCLA Center for African American Studies, Jones-de Oliveira wrote on African American and Native American Alliances for Resistance.
