    Who We Are: Gran Care

  • The purpose of Gran Care is to focus attention on the unique challenges facing Grandparent Caregivers and to work in coalition to develop programming for Grandparent Caregivers that help inform them about legal, health care, education, financial, and parenting issues. In conjunction with the Brooklyn Grandparent Coalition, we offer a number of psychoeducational workshops each year that provide information regarding parenting, stress, bereavement, legal, health care and financial issues and provide opportunity to network and socialize. Our events are free and are open to the community.

  • Gran Care also co-sponsors social and cultural events for Grandparent Caregivers, such as an Annual Holiday Party.

  • Gran Care promotes awareness and understanding of the concerns and needs of Grandparent Caregivers among the LIU social work students, many of whom participate in planning and implementing our events.

  • Gran Care seeks to extend the professional knowledge base regarding Grandparent Caregivers through professional presentations.
