Masters Project - 2000

This project was a study of African and Native American burial grounds in New York City. Many of these sites have been forgotten, some are built over, others are in disarray. I found scores of these burial sites around the city. Here are a few samples:

This is downtown Manhattan, Reade Street between Broadway and Centre.
During the period from 1712 to 1795, this was the African Burial Grounds.

This is Washington Square Park, in Greenwich Village.
In the 18th century, it was a Paupers and African Burial site.

This is the Civil Court, 111 Centre Street in lower Manhattan.
In the 18th Century, it was the African Methodist Epis Church Grave Yard
