NYC Department of Education Scholarships for Prospective Teachers
The TEACH NYC scholarship program is designed to afford individuals the opportunity to earn a master's degree in a designated critical shortage area. The program provides full tuition payments to eligible undergraduate and graduate students enabling them to obtain New York State certification. In exchange, participants serve as a teacher or clinician and repay two years of service for each year of tuition assistance to work in a high-need New York City public school. As part of the program requirements, participants are required to attend annual staff development sessions and program meetings with Department of Education staff. The Scholarship Program is currently accepting applications to the Fall 2008 semester.Long Island University-Brooklyn collaborates with TEACH NYC in the graduate Bilingual Special Education, Bilingual School Counseling and Bilingual School Psychology programs (M.S.Ed.)
The deadline to apply for a scholarship to begin Fall 2008 is May 16, 2008. Applications for the scholarship must be completed online through the website:

You must be accepted to and matriculated in LIU’s graduate program BEFORE you can apply to the TEACH NYC scholarship. We strongly encourage you to apply for admission to LIU-Brooklyn as soon as possible to facilitate your timely application to TEACH NYC for the bilingual special education, bilingual school counseling and bilingual school psychology scholarships.
