State Programs:

New York State's Tuition Assistance Program (TAP):

To receive a TAP award from New York State, students must meet good academic standing requirements. These are different than the requirements set forth by the federal government, and are applicable only to TAP awards.

The measures for good standing for TAP Awards monitor the following:

  • Minimum credits earned, and/or courses successfully completed
  • Minimum cumulative grade point average earned, and
  • Minimum number of repeated courses

When reviewing this chart, please note that:

  1. All students must register for a minimum of 12 credits (Line 1 of the chart)

  2. A minimum number of cumulative credits must be earned by each payment period which exhibits progress towards the degree objective (Line 2 of the chart)

  3. A minimum average must be achieved for each payment. As students progress, the minimum required average increases (Line 3 of the chart)

  4. To continue to receive TAP funding, a minimum number of credits must be completed each term. The further students progress and the more TAP payments they receive, the higher the required minimum number of credits becomes (Line 4 of the chart)
