The Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University offers
a wide variety of scholarship and grant programs, the
majority of which are awarded at the time of a student's
admission to the University. These programs provide
assistance for tuition charges only (fees are not included).
Based on academic achievement (high school averages,
SAT scores, rank in class, etc.) and/or on talent and
skills, these L.I.U. funded scholarships are awarded
by the University's Undergraduate Scholarship Committee.
Recipients of L.I.U. funded scholarships and grants
are advised of their awards in their letter of admissions,
sent by the University's Admissions Office. Awards
also appear on the recipient's financial aid award
notice. The terms and conditions of the scholarship
or grant awards are outlined in several publications
offered by the Office of Student Financial Services,
including the “Guide to Scholarships and Grants,” the “Financial
Aid Guide.” and on the “Scholarship and
Grant Programs” option on this website.
Undergraduate scholarships and grants are available
for up to four years or eight semesters, and are only
applicable to the undergraduate portion of any combined
B.S./M.S. degree program or the Pharm. D Program. All
recipients of University-funded scholarships and grants
must comply with the General Guidelines for Undergraduate
Scholarships and Grants , outlined in the University
Bulletin and further clarified in this Website.
Recipients of scholarships and grants are required
each year to complete the federal government's Free
Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once the
Office of Student Financial Services receives the federal
FAFSA information, eligibility for N.Y. State's TAP
program and the Federal Pell Grant Program can be determined,
and estimates provided on the financial aid award notice.
These notices also provide estimates of the University-funded
award(s), and any other financial aid available to
the student. The Bursar's Office will calculate the
exact dollar amount of any scholarship/grant award
during the bill clearance process each term. |
