Welcome
to the Website of the Office of Student Financial Services - one
that we hope you find informative, easy to use, and one that will
become your resource guide to the various state, federal and institutional
financial aid programs.
With such a wide variety of financial resources available to students
today, we wanted to create a website that would offer the best information
on how to apply for awards, how to continue to get them each year,
and where to look for new sources of funding. For most students,
the first step in the application process begins with the electronic
completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Our site has a direct link to FAFSA
on the Web (the federal government’s website), where
you may electronically complete the FAFSA.
The Brochures, Office Form, and Other Links option on our website
allows you to print out any of the myriad of brochures and office
forms that you may wish to review as you pursue your financial aid
funding. We have provided several scholarship search sites for you
to visit as well and hope you can take advantage of outside awards.
We hope you have a chance to read our Financial
Aid Newsletter which is also
available on-line, and to visit some of the other offerings we have
provided. Complete Long Island University scholarship and grant
information is available (see Scholarship and Grant Programs), as
is a review of the federal and state financial aid programs (see
Federal, State and Campus-Based Financial Aid Programs). Applying
for financial aid generally means meeting a deadline date, and we
have provided these dates for the different financial aid programs
on our Deadline Dates option.
In our Financial Aid Basics
option, you can learn about how we determine who is eligible for
financial aid, what type of financial aid "packaging"
we offer to students, what our yearly average estimated cost of
attendance is, and a myriad of other information about financial
aid in general. We also review good academic standing regulations,
our refund and withdrawal policy, and the various other checks and
balances used by the University to keep students in good standing
for financial aid purposes.
You can also learn all about borrowing loans for school by viewing
our Educational Loans
option and you can see the answers to the most frequently asked
questions by viewing FAQ. Our Resources option provides you with many references to other Internet sites
for financial aid information, and to publications available in
the L.I.U. Library, etc. Paying for a college education can also
provide a family with some Tax Relief
and this option will give you some background on the new tax initiatives
recently passed that benefit students and families.
We hope you have a chance to visit all sections of our site, and
we welcome your comments and suggestions. Welcome to Long Island
University and most especially, to our site!
Sincerely,
Rose Iannicelli
Dean of Student Financial Services
