Certification Requests
Certification of Enrollment

Current and past students can request a letter verifying their enrollment to be used for a variety of purposes, including visa applications, insurance verifications, and loan deferrment. The letter certifies the semesters in which a student is or has been enrolled; the dates of those semesters; and the student’s enrollment status (full-time, half-time, or less than half-time). Only past and present semesters can be certified. Contact Meredith Fisher directly at meredith.fisher@liu.edu with the subject line: Certification of Enrollment. In the body of the email, please include the mailing address or fax number where the letter should be sent.

Certification of Degree
Graduates can request a letter verifying their status as a degree holder. The letter certifies that the student has completed the course work necessary to be granted their Bachelor of Arts degree and the degree date. Contact Meredith Fisher directly at meredith.fisher@liu.edu with the subject line: Certification of Degree. In the body of the email, please include the mailing address or fax number where the letter should be sent.

Credit Status/ Evaluations Request
Any current student desiring an update on their credit status or a copy of their narrative evaluations for a particular semester should contact Meredith Fisher directly at meredith.fisher@liu.edu. In the subject line of your email include: Credit Status/ Evaluations Request. If requesting an evaluation, in the body of the email, please include a mailing address or fax number, as some narrative evaluations may not be available for email.

Graduation Information, Degree Application, Diplomas
Graduation Information & Degree Application

Graduation is NOT automatic. As students approach their final semester, they must submit an Application for Degree. The application should be submitted via fax to 718-780-4325 or mailed to: Global College of Long Island University, 9 Hanover Place, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

At Long Island University, there are 3 cycles per academic year for graduation, September, January, and May. Applications are due well in advance. Please check the Brooklyn Academic Calendar for degree application due dates: http://www.brooklyn.liu.edu/registrar/academic_calendar.html

Students will be notified if a problem is found with their record the degree audit. If a student is denied the requested graduation, their name will be deleted from the list of graduates. An Application for Degree is a legal document. A student must re-apply for the next available graduation date.
Applications cannot be rolled-over to a future graduation cycle.

Global College students are strongly encouraged to participate in Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus graduation ceremony in addition to the Global College Senior Recognition Day ceremony. Diplomas
Diplomas are ordered after degrees are conferred each cycle. They are estimated to arrive in 10-12 weeks. Diplomas will be mailed to the address indicated on their Application for Degree, unless students indicate they prefer to pick the diploma up in person.

Replacement Diplomas
Replacement diplomas can be ordered for graduates (1991 and onwards) of the Friends World Program. Replacement diplomas are only available for students graduating after the program affiliated with Long Island University. See below for ordering instructions.

Students graduating between 1991- and Spring 2005 must use this form and follow the instructions here: CW Post replacement diploma form

Students graduating from September 2005 and onwards must order their replacement diploma through the Brooklyn Campus Registrar’s office by writing a letter to the attention of Brooklyn Campus Registrar. The letter must include: 1. Student’s Name (exactly how they would like it to appear on diploma) 2. Social Security Number 3. Date of Birth 4. Date of Degree 5. Major (FWP) 6. The address to mail the diploma or a notation that the student will pick up the diploma from the office in person 7. Check for $18.50 made out to Long Island University (duplicate fee) 8. Letter MUST BE NOTARIZED 9. Mail letter to: Office of the Registar, Long Island University Brooklyn Campus, 1 University Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

Future Global College of Long Island University graduates with a B.A. in Global Studies should also request their replacement diploma through the Brooklyn Campus Registrar’s office, following the instructions above.

Transferring Credits
At the time of admission to Global College, students are required to disclose any college or university attended prior to Global College. Official transcripts should be mailed directly to: Global College of Long Island University, 9 Hanover Place, 4th Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11201.

Up to 64.00 credits are accepted from accredited institutions of higher education with grades of C or above. To receive a degree from Global College of Long Island University, a student must complete their last 32.00 credits (senior year) consecutively at Long Island University.

Continuing students may gain approval to transfer in courses taken at another college or university during a summer session or leave of absence through the Dean’s Office. Contact Joann Halpern at joann.halpern@liu.edu for more information.

Withdrawal/ Leave of Absence Information
Friends World B.A. students are permitted to take a one semester leave of absence and return to their exisiting program. If a Friends World B.A. student takes a leave of absence longer than one semester, they must re-apply for admission to the Global Studies B.A. program, as the Friends World B.A. plan has been discontinued.

Global Studies B.A. students are permitted to take a one semester leave of absence and return to their existing program. If a Global Studies B.A. takes a leave of absence longer than one year, they must re-apply for admission to the currently offered academic program.

Withdrawal/ Leave of Absence Form
Students must fill out an Application for Withdrawal when withdrawing or requesting a leave of absence from their studies. Students withdrawing from the program must complete an exit survey. A student on a leave of absence will be contacted to register for the following semester. A withdrawn student will not be contacted further regarding program registration.

Withdrawal Refund Schedule
