Students choosing the special concentration in health management
may elect the joint M.S./M.B.A. Program. Upon successful
completion of the requirements as determined by the Dean
of the School of Business, Public Administration and Information
Sciences and by the Director of the Community health Program,
the student will be awarded a Master of Science degree with
Specialization in Community health and a Master of Business
Administration degree.
Students must meet the general requirements for admission
to the business program (see p. 65) and the Community health
Program.
The program has been so planned that the requirements for
each degree will be coupled and taken as one program. Under
the combined program, provision has been made for a reduction
of up to 21 credits or seven courses from the maximum requirements
of 102 credits (60 credits in the M.B.A. and 42 credits
in the M.S. programs) for a reduced total of 81 credits.
General Business core courses in the School of Business,
Public Administration and Information Sciences, totaling
up to a maximum of 24 credits, may be waived when it is
determined by the office of the Dean of the School that
equivalent work has been completed elsewhere or that the
student has acquired comparable business experience.
Any three of the following courses, for a total of nine
credits, taken in satisfaction of the M.S. requirements
with the approval of the Director, will also be accepted
in partial satisfaction of the required fifteen credits
of advanced electives in the M.B.A. program with the approval
of the office of the Dean of the School:
- CH 670 Management in Community health Services
- CH 671 Managerial Reporting Systems and Information
Analysis in Community health Programs
- CH 672 Personnel Administration in health Services
- CH 673 Community Relations in
- health Services
- CH 674 Finance and Budgetary Aspects of Community health
Services
Waivers granted by the School of Business, Public Administration
and Information Sciences cannot be applied to corresponding
courses in Community health.
With consultation and approval of the Dean of the School
of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences
and the Director of the Community health Program the following
courses are mutually acceptable to meet the requirements
in both the School of Business, Public Administration and
Information Sciences and in the Community health Program:

506 Business Law
- CH 626 health Administration or GBA 503 Management
