Dear Summer Student:

 

Welcome to the 2009 HEOP Pre-freshman Summer Program!

Orientation day for the Pre-freshman Summer Program is scheduled for Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in the Library Learning Centre, Room LLC 122.  It is important that you attend this session and be on time; class schedules and books for each course will be distributed.  In addition, you will be introduced to your instructors and assigned academic and peer counselors. If you fail to attend the Orientation Day, you might loose your HEOP Student status.

Classes will begin Thursday, July 2, 2009 and will end Wednesday, August 12, 2009. As you know, sessions will be held Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Health education seminars, library and cultural trips, and community awareness workshops are part of the curriculum.  These activities are usually scheduled for Fridays.

At the end of the Summer Program, you will retake the placement exam (the post test) in order to assess the progress you have made and to finalize your Fall 2009 registration for Mathematics and English.  Recommendations from your instructors will also play a role in the registration process.  The date for the post-test is Thursday, August 13, 2009.

• The 2009-2010 FAFSA is available at www.FAFSA.ed.gov
• L.I.U.’s Federal School Code is 002751.
• Continuing student’s deadline for 2009-2010 campus based aid is March 16, 2009.
• Deadline for 2008-2009 Fall/Spring and Spring Only Federal Direct Student Loans is May 1, 2009
