Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to know how to swim in order to come to aquatic therapy?
No. In addition to your physical therapist being in the pool with you, the depth of the therapy pool is adjustable. You’ll always be able to stand with your head above water.

Is it difficult to get in and out of the pool?
No. The floor of the pool can come all the way up to the level of the deck. You can just walk right “in.”

Who will I work with in the pool?
You will work with your physical therapist. There are no assistants or aides.

How long is the appointment?
Each appointment is scheduled to last 45 minutes.

What do I need before I begin?
You need a prescription from your physician for aquatic therapy
You need to contact the Center for Physical Rehabilitation at 718-780-4531 for an appointment
You need to have a secure bathing suit and towel to bring with you.

What will my first treatment be like?
Your first treatment will be an evaluation out of the water by your physical therapist. You will begin treatment at this session and be taught activities to do on your own. Your second session will be in the pool.

Should I arrive early to my aquatic therapy session?
It’s a good idea to arrive early so that you can change. This will allow you to be in the pool for the full 45 minutes of your treatment time.

Is there a place for me to change clothes?
Yes. There is a locker room next to the pool. Please bring your own lock to secure your valuables.

What medical insurances do you accept?
We are in network with Oxford, worker’s compensation and no-fault. We will bill or help you bill your insurance company if you are coming out of network.
