    award from the NYC chapter of the Society of
    Professional Journalists.

  • The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism prepares students for a variety of media professions, including those in newspapers, broadcasting, magazines, public relations and advertising. Through specialized instruction, students develop the reporting, writing, editing and production skills required in these industries.


  • Moreover, they acquire a broad background in the historical, legal, theoretical and ethical dimensions of journalism. Students also learn of the social responsibilities of journalism and mass communication and become critical consumers of information and persuasion in the mass and interactive media.


  • In addition to acquiring a liberal-arts background in the humanities and social and natural sciences, journalism majors participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities, such as working on Seawanhaka, the student newspaper, to develop their career objectives and their portfolios while pursuing their bachelor's degrees.
