The Liberty Partnership Youth Empowerment Program was instituted in 1988 by the New York State Department of Education and founded on the belief that students can achieve academic success and lead productive lives as adults if they are provided with encouragement, support, information and effective interventions.

Through the combined efforts of local intermediate schools and high schools, the community, Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus, as well as local businesses and city and state agencies, the partnership provides a drop-out prevention program for sixth, seventh, and eight grade students and high school students who live in Community School District 32.

The Liberty Program meets Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm - 5:00pm at Intermediate Schools 162 and 296 in Bushwick, Brooklyn. The Saturday Institute for high school students meets at Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus from 12:00pm - 3:00pm.
