Through our interlibrary loan service we can obtain
material from other libraries. We will have the item
sent to the Brooklyn campus from one of the other LIU
campuses via courier, or a participating OCLC institution.
OCLC is a nationwide computerized network of more than
3,000 libraries. Using OCLC we can locate bibliographic
information for more than 55 million records, determine
which libraries have a particular item and request it
using the World Wide Web.
Click on the appropriate links on the left frame to
submit your online requests.
Only LIU Students, Faculty, or Staff may submit
Interlibrary Loan Requests.
Before you submit an interlibrary loan form for a book
request you need to check the LIUCAT,
LIU Libraries' Online Catalog. You also may need to
check the Card Catalog for books published before 1980.
Please check our Periodicals Holdings List in LIUCAT
before you submit a Journal Request. Please click Book
Request or Journal Request buttons on the left side
of the screen. Thank you.
The Interlibrary Loan system should be used as a final
resort to find needed materials. We urge students to
focus their research in order to limit Interlibrary
loan request to only those materials most needed. Many
of our online
databases contain abstracts or summaries of the
articles. It is recommended that students read the abstracts
carefully in order to determine if the article is appropriate
for the research topic.
Any questions? Please e-mail the Interlibrary Loan
Dept. at Lisa.Burwell@liu.edu or call 718 488-1679.
A limit of 10 Interlibrary Loan books per user may
be checked out of the library.
