Long Island University’s Brooklyn Library Presents
Contest, Art

Art work by Michael Brathwaite
With the computerized library databases there has been no need for The Dewey Decimal Catalog Cards. The library was going to throw out thousands and thousands of cards but decided that it might be fun to honor its memory by transforming the cards into art. The library held a contest and received submissions from students, staff and faculty. The cards were used for sculptures, printmaking, poetry and more.
The
recycled art project is on display now in the Resnick Gallery from Monday April
21 to May 1.
Please join the Brooklyn Library on
April 23,
2008
from 5pm-7pm
for the opening reception where the winners of the contest will be announced.
