What is IM A LIBRARIAN?
IM A LIBRARIAN uses the Meebo platform to enable patrons to send instant messages to a librarian at the Brooklyn Campus Library of Long Island University. It is an instant messaging service that incorporates popular IM programs including Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, MSN Messenger and AOL's AIM. If you have one of the above mentioned instant messenger accounts, you will be able to IM A LIBRARIAN.

What Hours is IM A LIBRARIAN available?
Spring and Fall Semesters:  Monday through Friday, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday 1 pm. to 4 pm.

Who can use the service?
This is a pilot program, intended for LIU students, faculty and staff to ask reference-oriented questions.

What options do I have when IM A LIBRARIAN is unavailable?
The user always has the option of
Using Live Reference Chat available from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., or
Phoning the Reference Desk at (718) 780-4513, or
Sending an e-mail to libref@brooklyn.liu.edu (responses within 48 hours when the library is open).
