The ASSET is a multiple-choice examination. There are three sections:
Writing Skills (25 minutes-36 questions),
Reading Skills (25 minutes—24 questions)
Numerical Skills (25 minutes—32 questions)
A sample ASSET exam and test-taking tips are available through the internet. Go to http://www.act.org/asset/tests/index.html. Scroll down and click on ASSET, then click on “Download ASSET student guide”.
When you prepare using the on-line sample and tips, remember: You will not be taking the entire ASSET exam. To fulfill the Ability-to-Benefit requirement you will take only the Writing, Reading, and Numerical portions. A calculator is not permitted for the numerical section.
For special summer programs, you may be asked to take the Reading portion only.
Please bring current valid photo ID and 2 sharpened pencils to the examination. Calculators are not permitted. Because this is a timed examination, latecomers are not admitted.
Results of the examination will be available three business days after the examination.
The ASSET is given by appointment only. Please call the Testing Center at 718-488-1392 to set up an appointment.
