Welcome to Families and Students from Provost Gale Stevens Haynes

I am delighted to welcome you - parents, grandparents, spouses, partners and families of our students - to the Brooklyn Campus Family page. Thank you for visiting our Web site and for being part of the Brooklyn Campus community.

Over the years, we have found that students and their families often have questions about various aspects of the college life - ranging from financial and admission services to health facilities and academic support programs - as well as about the many challenges facing new and returning college students. In response, we have developed this Family section, which I hope will provide you with easy access to useful information and help you enjoy a fruitful experience with our Campus.

Your dedication, involvement and sacrifice are critical components of a successful college career. We do our part by offering small classes, specialized programs and a truly caring, outstanding faculty and staff in order to provide an excellent liberal arts and sciences education along with the skills and technologies needed for a wide-range of rewarding careers. We strive to produce well-informed citizens who will contribute to the future of our city, our community and our world.

I urge you to explore this site to familiarize yourself with the Brooklyn Campus, including the specific kinds of support and counseling available to assist students in this important venture in higher education. On the left side of this page, we have provided links to guide you to parts of this Web site with answers to many of your questions. I would like to highlight two particularly helpful areas.

One concern of many families is financial aid. By clicking on the Financial Services link, you will find extensive information and contacts for advisers to help you in this critical area. Please also note the Key Contacts link. There, you can find contact information for individuals-many who themselves are LIU grads-who can answer most questions about classes, programs, financial services, and payment and academic records.

We believe that, whether you are a parent or other family supporter or are yourself a student, the more you know, the better your experience will be at our university.

To each of you, once again, welcome to the Brooklyn Campus.

Sincerely,

Gale Stevens Haynes
