Thank you for visiting the Home Page of the Arnold & Marie
Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Long Island
University. Established in 1886 as the Brooklyn College
of Pharmacy, the Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of
Pharmacy and Health Sciences is one of the oldest and largest
institutions of its kind in the nation. We are proud
of our long and distinguished history and of the accomplishments
of our faculty and alumni who continue to make important
contributions to the profession of pharmacy.
Dramatic
changes are taking place in pharmacy that are creating new
and expanded opportunities for our graduates. The
unprecedented demand for pharmacists is coupled with new
professional roles that recognize pharmacists as essential
healthcare providers. In
this capacity pharmacists are responsible for ensuring safe
and effective drug therapy for their patients, and for ensuring
that medication-related public health goals are achieved.
The
Arnold & Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health
Sciences is a modern and model urban institution that provides
access and excellence to those who are interested in pursuing
a career in pharmacy and related areas. An extraordinary
faculty and state-of-the-art laboratories and facilities
are integrated with the most prestigious and comprehensive
array of clinical affiliations in the United States. Participating
in our network are over thirty major medical centers and
long-term care facilities, hundreds of community pharmacies,
our own world-renowned Drug Information Center, and nearly
1,000 preceptors.
In
addition to our Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) program, the
College offers M.S. and Ph.D degrees in a variety of pharmacy
and related administrative and scientific disciplines of
particular interest to the pharmaceutical industry. These
programs provide graduate students with outstanding research
opportunities and with the skills for career growth.
