LIU-BC SBPAIS MPA Program Advanced Certificate in Not-for-Profit Management is a 15 credit certificate designed to provide professionals with varying backgrounds who are managers in not-for-profit organizations essential elements of not-for-profit organization theory and management. The certificate consists of an overview of the not-for-profit sector, the organizations that carry out these important missions and management challenges of these organizations. Certificate courses also address key management functions of human resources, finance and decision making contexts. The courses as listed below are all graduate level courses and represent a stand-alone certificate.
Required Foundation Course: (Three credits)
MPA 624 – Not-for-Profit Management
Required Management Functions Courses: (Nine credits)
MPA 602 – Human Resources Management
MPA 603 – Fundamentals of Finance and Budgeting
MPA 626 – Legal, Ethical and Governance Issues in Nonprofit Management
Select one elective: (Three credits)
PM 741 – Fundraising
PM 742 – Grant writing and Administration
Students already in the MPA Program, who are specializing in Not-for-Profit Management (NPM) may earn an Advanced Certificate in Not-for-Profit Management in addition to the MPA degree by taking PM 728, 741 or 742 and any two other NPM 700-level courses.
