Brooklyn, N.Y. - Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus will
display two exhibitions of works by artists living and working in
the borough this September.
The Fort Greene Photography Association, a community-based membership
organization of photographers from the Brooklyn area, will showcase
the artistic output of its members. The exhibition will feature black-and-white
and color photographs of subjects ranging from portraits to landscapes
to still lifes.
Started a year ago, "the mission of the association is to cultivate
creativity, get support, and develop hands-on photographic skills,"
says Bernard Morisset, president of the association. "It's a
way of bringing a community of local emerging photographers together."
The exhibition will take place at the Brooklyn Campus's Resnick
Gallery from September 1 to September 27. A reception for the photographers
will take place at the Resnick on Wednesday, September 18 from 5 to
7 p.m.
Concurrently, the Brooklyn Campus's Salena Gallery is the
setting for a multimedia art exhibition featuring artworks by
faculty members of the Campus's Art and Media Arts departments
and by the guest artists they've invited. The show is titled "Me
and a Friend." A reception for the artists will take place
at the gallery on Wednesday, September 25, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Gallery hours are from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6
p.m., and Saturday/Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information
on the exhibits, call (718) 488-1198. |
