Artist and Architect James Rossant Displays His Work on Cities
At Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus in April

Brooklyn, N.Y. - Drawings and paintings by architect James Rossant are showcased at Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus from April 1 to April 27 in the Salena Gallery, on the first floor of the Library Learning Center. Titled "Cities in the Sky," the exhibit runs in conjunction with this year's annual Honors conference on the formal and informal considerations that shape the production of public design. The exhibit is free and open to the public; a reception for the artist takes place on Wednesday, April 3 from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

An internationally known architect and town planner, Rossant served as the designer of the cities of Reston, Virginia and Dodoma, Tanzania, as well as for New York's Lower Manhattan Plan. He has designed numerous award-winning buildings and his paintings and drawings have been shown in museums and galleries in New York, Tokyo, Paris and Mexico City. His most recent exhibition was at five myles gallery in Brooklyn where he created a walk-in installation that embodied the ongoing evolution of New York City. Among his numerous honors are awards from the American Institute of Architects, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Municipal Arts Society.

Also on exhibit from April 1 to April 27, at the Campus's Resnick Gallery, on the third floor of the LLC, are photographic collages by a graduate of the Campus's M.A. in media arts program, Andrea Slonosky, that explore the tensions and contradictions of living in New York City.
