Spring Jazz Concerts Stimulate the Spirit
At Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus

Brooklyn, N.Y. - The music department of Long Island University's Brooklyn Campus will present a series of jazz clinics and concerts this spring that will energize jazz fans. Among the highlights is an appearance by noted drummer Greg Hutchison. All events will take place in the Humanities Building Conference Hall.

Tuesday, April 9, 4 p.m. Drummer Greg Hutchison will work with Long Island University music students, particularly the rhythm section.
Tuesday, April 23, 4 p.m. Big bands from New York City public high schools will participate in the High School Jazz Festival.
Monday, April 29, 7 p.m The Vocal Jazz Ensemble Concert features individual and ensemble jazz arrangements.
Tuesday, April 30, 4 p.m. Faculty members will perform in the All-Star Faculty Jazz Concert, including Peter Yellin, Derrick Gardner, Earl McIntyre and Gloria Cooper.
Wednesday, May 1, 7 p.m. The Long Island University Chorus will hold its spring concert.
Thursday, May 2, 1 p.m. Student jazz ensembles will perform in concert.

In addition to a B.A. in traditional studies, the music department offers a B.F.A degree in Jazz Studies. Students may study privately with professionals off-campus for credit. The program can be tailored to suit students' needs with either a minor or double major in other fields.
