‘Zeuxis at LIU’ Art Exhibition Is Showcased
At Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Zeuxis, an association of still-life painters, presents an exhibition exploring the many possibilities of still-life art at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus. Paintings by the noted artist Lennart Anderson are to be represented along with works by several of his protégés.

The group exhibition will take place in the Campus’s Salena Gallery from November 3 through December 13. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, November 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Founded in New York City in 1994 and named after an ancient Greek artist, Zeuxis includes 19 members from across the nation, whose art has been exhibited in galleries in New York City and elsewhere. The exhibition includes work by the association’s members and invited guest artists. Exhibitors include leading Brooklyn artist Albert Kresch, Anthony Martino, an adjunct professor in the Campus’s Art Department, John Goodrich, who also writes about art, as well as Anderson whose still-life work has inspired many Zeuxis members.

Also from November 3 to December 13 in the Campus’s Resnick Gallery, Linda Apton, an adjunct professor in the Visual Arts Department, will display her clay sculpture, drawings and mixed-media constructions. A reception will take place on Wednesday, November 12, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gallery hours are from Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday/Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information on the exhibit, call (718) 488-1198.

Long Island University opened its Brooklyn Campus in 1926, welcoming a diverse population at a time when other major universities enforced quota systems against racial and ethnic minorities. Some 30,000 students currently are enrolled at the university’s three residential and three regional campuses, including more than 11,000 at the Brooklyn Campus. Located at the corner of Flatbush Avenue Extension and DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn, the Campus is accessible to all major bus and subway routes and the Long Island Rail Road.
