Brooklyn, N.Y. – Theatergoers will have a
last chance to see “Dreamgirls,” the celebrated award-winning
musical, in a limited run at the Kumble Theater for the Performing
Arts before the highly publicized release of the film version
in December. Directed by Tony-Award winner Ben Harney, co-star
of the original Broadway production, “Dreamgirls”
is based on the hit musical about the rise of a trio of black
female soul singers in the early 1960s.
This production features a gifted cast who performed
to wildly enthusiastic, standing-room-only audiences at the historic
Lambs Theater on Broadway in August. The original Broadway production
won six Tony Awards in 1982, including for best actor in a musical
for Harney.
