Students to
Graduate Open House, Wednesday, December 6, 5:30-7 p.m.
Brooklyn, N.Y. – Having a graduate degree
is critical to professional success these days, whether in traditional
careers such as business or education or a cutting-edge field
like new media arts. Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus
is opening its doors to provide information about its more than
100 doctoral, master’s and advanced certificate programs
and the career opportunities they bring at a Graduate Open House.
Free and open to the public, the Graduate Open
House will take place on Wednesday, December 6, from 5:30 to 7
p.m. in the Campus’s Luntey Commons. The Campus is located
at the corner of DeKalb and Flatbush avenues in downtown Brooklyn.
Visitors to the open house will have the chance
to meet current students from all the graduate programs, plus
faculty and staff members, as well as to learn about the varied
programs. For example, the business and public administration
programs offer master’s degrees in the expanding fields
of accounting, finance and human resources. A 15-credit certificate
option in the growing specialties of gerontology administration
or not-for-profit management can be taken independently or as
part of the M.B.A., M.P.A. and other master’s curricula.
For those interested in design, production and
media careers, innovative offerings at the Brooklyn Campus combine
art and technology for master’s degrees in media arts and
new media and performance. Beginners and seasoned professionals
alike can build skills using the latest equipment in a state-of-the-art
media facility. The School of Education, with its outstanding
urban-focused programs, presents graduate degrees in bilingual
and special education, areas that are in high demand and offer
satisfying career options.

Long Island University opened
its Brooklyn Campus in 1926, welcoming a diverse population at
a time when other major universities enforced quota systems against
racial and ethnic minorities. Located at the corner of Flatbush
Avenue Extension and DeKalb Avenue in Downtown Brooklyn, the Campus
is accessible to all major bus and subway routes and the Long
Island Rail Road.
