Brooklyn, N.Y. – Welcoming the Christmas season, Long Island University’s Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts will present a gospel musical, “Follow the Star,” in December, featuring renowned stage, screen and television actress Carol Woods.
Performances of “Follow the Star” will take place on Friday, December 21, at 8 p.m. and Saturday, December 22, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Kumble Theater on the University’s Brooklyn Campus, located at the corner of DeKalb and Flatbush avenues. Tickets are $30, $40, $50, $55, $60; VIP, $75 and $100.
Presented by St. Mark Holy Church, Tortoise G4 Music and Councilwoman Darlene Mealy, “Follow the Star” is written by Bishop Nathaniel Townsley, Jr., Valdenna Townsley-Belton, Jamal Wilson and Dawn Driver, with choreography by Alfred Gallman.
Carol Woods has performed in the Broadway production and national tour of “Chicago,” as well as acted in “The Honeymooners” (2005) and “Law and Order.” Joining her in “Follow the Star” is an exciting cast of gospel singers, which includes Bishop Townsley, Nat Townsley III & the Jubilee Band, C. Terrance Taylor, Lady Mary Townsley, Sylvia Dyson Ruth, Dawn Driver, Jacinda Townsley-Lee, Keith “Wonder Boy” Johnson, Apostle Wesley Wiley, R. Demetrius Griffin, Lady Doreen Figueroa, and the Tortoise G4 Music Actors and Dancers Workshop, among others.
