LIU Day Open House at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus Is Planned
Nearly 1,000 prospective students, families and friends expected
Sunday, November 11, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Brooklyn, N.Y. – College-bound students and working professionals, along with their families and friends, will have a chance to tour the newly landscaped 11-acre Brooklyn Campus of Long Island University during LIU Day, on Sunday,November 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
At the annual fall open house, visitors can meet professors and students, attend financial aid workshops and discuss their interests with academic and career advisers. In addition to the freshly landscaped grounds, they can visit the high-tech Media Center, the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts and the state-of-the-art Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center. At the newly opened Cyber Café, visitors can see demonstrations of the wireless computer technology that is available to all students.
LIU Day, on Sunday, November 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., is free and open to the public. It begins in the main building at Flatbush and DeKalb avenues in downtown Brooklyn. For more information or directions, call (718) 488-1011 or visit www.brooklyn.liu.edu.
More than 1,000 prospective freshmen, transfer students and other guests are expected. The Admissions Office will waive fees for applications submitted on LIU Day.
The Campus is known for its strong commitment to each individual student, providing personalized attention and small classes at the same time that it offers an extensive array of academic programs in business, education, health sciences, liberal arts and sciences, nursing and pharmacy, as well as study-abroad opportunities.

With flowering lawns and fountains, the Brooklyn Campus sparkles with the energy of a vibrant community. It includes a newly inaugurated, $45 million Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center, with top-notch fitness equipment, an eight-lane, 25-yard swimming pool and a sports arena for the school’s NCAA Division I sports teams. Also recently opened is the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts, an inspirational venue for dance, music, film and other programs.
The Brooklyn Campus is part of Long Island University, founded in 1926 and now among the largest private universities in the country. Enriched with unique diversity, its more than 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students represent nearly all races and cultures of the world.
Long Island University opened its Brooklyn Campus in 1926, welcoming a diverse population at a time when other major universities enforced quota systems against racial and ethnic minorities.
