School of Business at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus Hosts
High School Student Program, February 7, Toastmasters Meetings, February 5 and 20, March 4 and 19
New York, N.Y. – In February and March of 2008, the School of Business, Public Administration and Information Sciences at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus is hosting its annual Youth for Business and Technology Program and several meetings for the Toastmasters International Club.
The Youth for Business and Technology Programis tailored for high school students, highlighting careers in accounting, finance, management, marketing and technology. This year, it will spotlight privacy and security issues and their impact on the world of business.
The Youth for Business and Technology Program takes place on Thursday, February 7, from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., in room 315 of the Humanities Building on the Brooklyn Campus. For the general public, a series of meetings are scheduled for theToastmasters International Club.This world-renowned organization helps members become more persuasive and develop better communication skills. Participants practice delivery of impromptu or prepared speeches, learn to give and receive constructive criticism and learn how to conduct formal meetings.
Toastmasters International Club meetings will take place on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, February 5 and 20 and March 4 and 19, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., in the Brooklyn Campus’ Library Learning Center, Room 515. Attendance at first two meetings is free; for more information call Joan Pierre at (718) 488-1121.
The Brooklyn Campus is located near the intersection of Flatbush and DeKalb avenues and is convenient to all major subway lines and the Long Island Rail Road’s Flatbush Avenue terminal.
