Brooklyn, N.Y. – In an annual rite of spring, LIU Day soon will draw hundreds of high school students and other prospective undergraduates for the April open house at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus.
LIU Day takes place this year on Sunday, April 27, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free and open to potential freshmen and transfer students as well as their families and friends, the open house begins in the main building at Flatbush and DeKalb avenues, in downtown Brooklyn. The Admissions Office will waive fees for any applications submitted on LIU Day. Advisers at the Student Financial Services office will be available to answer questions about financial aid and other assistance.
Nearly 1,000 LIU Day guests will tour the Campus with current students and discuss study, career and scheduling options with faculty and staff members. Those who are qualified will be able to register for summer or fall courses and receive their class schedules.
The Campus is known for a strong commitment to each individual student, providing personalized attention and small classes at the same time that it offers an extensive array of academic programs in business, education, health sciences, liberal arts and sciences, nursing, pharmacy and the international Global College.
"At our Campus, we celebrate the fact that we are a community that cares about and supports each and every member," declared Provost Gale Stevens Haynes, noting, "Our dynamic campus and outstanding faculty offer a supportive and challenging atmosphere for growth and adventure."
The Campus provides a friendly and attractive environment for its more than 11,000 students, with trees, flowers and sparkling fountains. A vibrant 11-acre urban oasis, students enjoy the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts; the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center, with its 2,500-seat venue for the school’s NCAA Division I sports teams; and the newly opened Louise B’69 and Leonard Riggio Cyber Café.
