Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts Hosts Top Events At Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus in April
— Jazz, Theater, Dance and a Poetic Tribute to Nancy Wilson—
Brooklyn, N.Y. – A tribute to legendary song stylist Nancy Wilson will be a highlight of the April events at the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus. An intimate, 320-seat house with cutting-edge productions of music, dance and theater, the Kumble is a venue for quality productions for students as well as the community.

THE ELLIE CHARLES AWARDS TRIBUTE TO NANCY WILSON

A musical and poetic tribute to jazz great Nancy Wilson will be presented by African Voices, a premier Black Literary Arts magazine. Ms. Wilson will accept the award for her many contributions to the arts. The Ellie Awards is an annual fundraising benefit for African Voices.

This emotionally charged gospel play, by local playwright DeShanna Pitts, explores the complex viewpoints held by members of the Christian Church regarding HIV and AIDS and their impact upon a widow and her twin sons. Parental discretion advised due to adult subject and language.
