Fundraiser at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus Will Help Pregnant Women in West Africa

Brooklyn, N.Y. – Sa Leone Health Pride will hold its second annual dinner-dance fundraiser on Saturday, April 19, at Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus. The event will help the non-profit group expand innovative programs to improve survival rates for pregnant women and their babies in Sierra Leone and other parts of West Africa.
Founded in 2004 by an alumna and teacher at the University’s School of Nursing, Sa Leone Health Pride conducts education programs to empower and improve skills of healthcare workers in the region. The organization’s volunteers also provide direct service at clinics in Sierra Leone, which has the world’s highest rates of maternal and infant mortality.
The Sa Leone Health Pride dinner-dance will take place between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, in the Luntey Commons of the Brooklyn Campus, located near Flatbush and DeKalb avenues.
