Fall open house to be held on Sunday, November 15, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.;
Application fees will be waived for anyone who applies for admission on LIU Day

Brooklyn, N.Y. – College-bound students, working professionals, career changers and their families and friends are invited to explore the diverse programs and beautiful grounds of Long Island University’s Brooklyn Campus during the Campus’ fall open house, LIU Day, on Sunday, November 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Visitors will have the opportunity to meet professors and students, to attend financial aid workshops and to discuss their needs and goals with academic and career advisers. Questions about admissions requirements, financing a degree and career services will be addressed. Application fees will be waived for anyone who applies for admission on LIU Day.

All prospective students should start their visit at the Campus’ main building, Metcalfe Hall, and those who already possess a bachelor’s degree are encouraged to attend the LIU Day Graduate Open House between noon and 2 p.m. in the Humanities Building Lobby. The graduate open house will focus on fast-track approaches to graduate degrees and advanced certificates that can help individuals to sharpen their professional skills or to transition into new careers. A special session will address the interests of those who wish to “return to learning,” including professionals affected by the downturn in the economy.

Renowned for its commitment to student-centered education, the Brooklyn Campus, a unit of one of the largest and most comprehensive private universities in the country, provides both the extensive resources and opportunities of a large institution and the personalized attention of a small college. The Campus offers more than 200 academic programs in business, education, health professions, liberal arts and sciences, nursing and pharmacy, as well as international study options through the University’s Global College. One-on-one counseling, mentoring, tutoring, special needs programs and extensive career resources are available to help students to achieve their goals.

The beautifully landscaped 11-acre Campus also offers its students an array of amenities including the $45-million Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center, which features an eight-lane swimming pool, a rooftop track and top-of-the-line fitness equipment and studio facilities; the Kumble Theater for the Performing Arts, which provides free or low-cost access to world-class performances; and the Louise B’69 and Leonard Riggio Cyber Café, a popular campus eatery and meeting place that offers free computer resources, wireless Internet access and technical assistance.

Serving a diverse student body of more than 11,000 students, the Brooklyn Campus, which offers generous financial aid packages and flexible payment plans, is located at DeKalb and Flatbush Avenues in downtown Brooklyn, near major subway lines and the Long Island Rail Road, just 10 minutes from Manhattan.
